Ethics of Rock Climbing: The Dos and Don'ts of Playing Music While Climbing
Are you a rock climber who loves to pump up the volume with some tunes while scaling up a challenging route? Well, hold on to your speakers because I've got some news for you. According to the unwritten ethics of rock climbing, listening to music out loud is a big no-no, especially when you're climbing with a lot of people around
In this episode, we talk about the unspoken code of conduct in the rock climbing community when it comes to blasting music. While it's not technically prohibited, it's generally frowned upon as it goes against the natural beauty of the surroundings and can disrupt other climbers in the area. So, if you're planning to climb in a crowded spot, it's best to leave your music at home or use headphones to avoid causing any disturbance.
In essence, it's up to you to make your own decision about whether or not to listen to music while climbing. However, it's worth noting that it's generally looked down upon in areas where there are other climbers around. While some people may still choose to bring speakers, it's important to be respectful of the environment and the other climbers. Ultimately, it's recommended to leave the tunes behind and fully immerse yourself in the climb.
